Spraying insecticide for coconut protection
The manager of a 100,000 acre coconut plantation in Brazil desperately needed spray equipment that could get rid of insects attracted to the sweet treetop fruits at a vulnerable stage of the growing season. The situation called for a spray rig that could reach the heights of the trees, yet be mobile and easily handled by one operator.
Pumps and equipment locally available at that time seemed inadequate, and the manager contacted a Californian equipment supplier, subsequently hearing of one rig that was operating successfully. It incorporated a Hydra-Cell pump.
An urgent order was placed through the Hydra-Cell distributor in California and within a week the pump was on its way by priority air.
With rugged compact build, suited to belt drive and highly efficient - so that it needs only a small engine to deliver a powerful spray - the pump lends itself well to mobile applications. Very soon the mobile rig was moving freely through the plantation while the operator easily blasted the bugs high in the treetops with a commercially available insecticide solution.
