Hydra-Cell® Pumps in Water Management Applications - Polymer Injection
Three years on: Hydra-Cell® pumps save 21,000 tonnes of polymer and $1/4 million in maintenance
Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) Injection for EOR
Injection of Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) solution is carried out by 14 injection wells through two injection manifolds installed within the plant. Each injection manifold has 7 injection lines. Each injection line is provided with individual reciprocating pumps for injection.
The only maintenance required in three years has been the recommended oil changes.

Process Challenges
- Stability of the injected polymer viscosity, matching the reservoir oil viscosity for maximum pressurising and “pushing” effect
- Keep polymer usage costs to a minimum - minimising shear degradation and zero leakage of polymer
- To keep the polymer solution free from oxygen to stop polymer degradation
- Capability to vary volume of injected polymer over a wide range of values as well conditions change
Hydra-Cell® Pump Advantages
Unique Valve Design
- Proven very low shear pumping action minimising polymer shear and optimising polymer usage
No Seals. No Packing.
- Polymer is 100% contained, no waste due to leakage and keeping polymer free from oxygen to stop degradation
- Hydra-Cell® pump can be run from 0 to maximum rpm achieving a very wide flow rate range
